Isaiah 58: 11

The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs
in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your bones.
You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose
waters never fail.

Thank you for your prayers

A few weeks ago, we were walking through the valley of the SHADOW of death. John's life hung tenderly in the balance. He could barely sit up or move. He was eating less than our two year old son. He was in constant pain. He was incoherent many times throughout the day. We are still in a war, but that battle seems to be behind us. I am absolutely convinced that we were delivered as a result of your prayers. Thank you.

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered ... We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.
II Corinthians 1: 8- 11

The war goes on and we covet your continued prayers, but let us all pause and give thanks to the Lord for His victory on John's behalf in that battle.

Since that time John has gained over five pounds. He is totally lucid. He has worked at the computer several times. He is less overwhelmed by the children. The blood clot is dramatically smaller. His blood levels are fairly good. He is receiving a transfusion just now to keep his hemoglobin level up.

And as far as his appetite?

I'll tell you what he ate for breakfast:

The Breakfast of Champions
Three scrambled eggs
Four High Protein Pancakes (Recipe forthcoming)
Bowl of Steel Cut Oats
Papaya and Grapes
Freshly juiced carrot, apple, lime, spinach, broccoli, celery and cabbage.

Having John's Mother with us has boosted all of our spirits and nutrition!
Thank you Mary Fawcett.

All praise be to God!! Wow! We will give thanks for the victory in that battle and continue in our pleas for a victory for the war. May His nearness be evident to each of you.
Thinking of you constantly and lifting you before the throne of great mercy--

John & Margie:

We--and doubtless countless with us--are rejoicing at this encouraging report, and for your words, placing this so firmly in a Scriptural context of intercession, and favors granted.

We are full of wonder, amazement, and pray that victory will be ongoing, and suffering allieviated. The faith, courage, and hope that both of you demonstrate is an inspiration to us all, and will never be forgotten--never!

Thank you for living so openly, so courageously, and trustingly, before us..I know many have been blessed through this blog, Margie, and through it, by dear John, even when he was and is not able to bless us directly, in person, himself.

May God be in all things, and all circumstances glorified, by us, his frail and mortal, utterly-dependent children.

In gratitude to God, and to you both, John "Choice-Card" Walford

Recently I read Matt 28:18 where Jesus was speaking to his disciples just before his ascension. He said, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth." I was reminded of a section in Matthew that I'd read earlier. In Matt 8 a centurian comes to Jesus and tells him of his servant "suffering terribly" at home. When Jesus says he will come and heal him, the centurian responds, "...only say the word, and my servant will be healed." The centurian understood authority and recognized it in Jesus. He knew that Jesus only needed to say the word and it would be done. I have been praying that Jesus would "only say the word" on John's behalf.

Margie and John,
Praise the Lord! I have been offering the Eucharist with special intention for John (and your family) all through Advent and I will continue to do so. You are beloved of the Lord.

John and Margie -

How great to get word of John's progress -

Wanted to share a "Charlotte-ism" from 4s and 5s Sunday School (where profound theological issues are always afoot) last week...

Miss Kristen asked, "Why is purple the color of Advent?"

Charlotte launched into a great theological summary on waiting, Christmas, etc., and, realizing she didn't quite have an answer to the purple question, ended with -

"Purple is just so, so - so Adventish."

Hey! It's so encouraging to learn of this new ascent! God bless you both, and let's remember, it's Advent, and soon to be Christmas, and the angel declares the truth: "NOTHING is impossible with God." Your family has long since been a miracle and blessing for us and our congregation. The Lord is truly gracious, kind and merciful. May he bless your bodies with healing and your minds with rest and Peace. In the Spirit of Jesus Chris, our Lord and healer,
