Today's quilt was a recent gift from my friend Sally, aka Marry Poppins. Sally and Bryan have been great friends for many years. They had me over for dinner every Tuesday night during those two years in which John and I were experiencing the "Intermission" of our dating lives. I would come wearing a maroon zip-up sweatshirt that I referred to as the grief cloth. In recent years we have shared the joy and trials of marriage, children, physical illness, friendship, "our issues" and on and on.
During John's illness Sally has made countless meals, hosted girlfriend gatherings and included my children in her play days. Bryan has power washed my deck and helped to deliver a monarch butterfly from its cocoon. A few weeks ago I was worried that John's health was quickly deteriorating. I phoned his parents and they arranged to come from Brazil that very day. We were heading out to church and I called Sally and asked her to come over and help get the house ready for my in-laws. The day before I dragged out boxes of Christmas decor, but now was not going to have the time to put it up and clean the house, change the sheets, etc for the Fawcetts' arrival.

Both Bryan and Sally came over to our house and spent four hours cleaning, decorating, hanging lights and putting away boxes. It was an unforgettable gift. This quilt was on my table when we returned. Sally had made it for her own Advent dinners, but freely passed on to me this year. It is beautiful and touched our home with love every day of Advent.

Thank you Bryan and Sally.
We love you.

Margie,
Blessings this third day of Christmas! I check your blog frequently to guide my prayers. Thank you for all the other nurturing you do of me with your posts. I like the haircut and glasses... makes me think I should replace mine (that I lost 18 mos ago)! =)
Merry Christmas.
