Today was a difficult and exhausting day. I hoped that the morning would bring a new sense of energy and clarity for John. Instead, he remained exhausted and confused. I brought him his breakfast and went upstairs to eat with the children. An hour later when I went down to get him ready for the day, he was still just sitting there, not having touched the food. I had to feed him to get him to eat.
It brings me indescribable sadness that John’s mind is now confused by this disease. Today he wandered around the house with a sense that he should be going somewhere, but there wasn’t anywhere for him to go. He has something on his mind, but he cannot pull the words together and get them out. For instance he asked me at dinner, “Is there a relationship between jazz and…?” or “Its really important to teach the children…”
This morning I was able to understand he had a sense that the Enemy was sneering at him. There is no getting around the fact that our Enemy delights in our demise. Let us not forget this week that Christ died to forgive our sins AND to crush the work of the Enemy. Take cover in Christ, my friends. He is the only eternal shelter.
I was blessed by this morning's Psalm.

Psalm 6
O LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath.
Be merciful to me, LORD, for I am faint; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are in agony.
My soul is in anguish. How long, O LORD, how long?
Turn, O LORD, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love.
No one remembers you when he is dead. Who praises you from the grave?
I am worn out from groaning; all night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears.
My eyes grow weak with sorrow; they fail because of all my foes.
Away from me, all you who do evil, for the LORD has heard my weeping.
The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer.
All my enemies will be ashamed and dismayed; they will turn back in sudden disgrace.

Margie--
The kids and I were reading a Psalm a day, earlier this school year, and I remember when we came to this one. We all thought of John.
We are joining you in praying for a resurrection miracle this week!
With love,
Jeanne

Margie,
We're praying here in Colorado. We have no wisdom, just faith in God's goodness.
Bless you all,
Annie
Margie (and John),
It brings me to tears to think of John confused--the most brilliant person/musician I have been blessed to know.
Last week Tuesday our worship team got together to go over HOly Week music and we prayed for John as we learned the anthems he put music to. We sang them lustily as a prayer "...We glory in your cross O Lord, and praise and glorify your holy resurrection; for by virtue of your cross, joy has come to the whole world (bring joy to the Fawcetts!) May God be merciful to us and bless us, show us the light of his countenance and come to us (come to John, O Lord, with your light of clarity!) Let your ways be known upon earth, your saving health among all nations (give your saving health to John Lord!)...If we have died with him, we shall also live with him; if we endure, we shall also reign with him."
We are praying for holy endurance for you (health for you and Josiah--we know about influenza first hand!)and endurance for John--and that you both will continue to GLORY IN THE CROSS!
Peace,
Sarah Hoskins (for the 5.5 of us!)
Continuing to hold you all up in prayer,
Martha
Dear Margie:
I heard the news about the pneumonia...I am glad they know what is wrong and that John is receiving extra medical care. I am carrying you and John, Charlotte and Josiah in my heart this week--in thoughts and prayers. May the arms of our Lord hold you all in His unfathomably deep love.
Blessings,
Kirsten
