Isaiah 58: 11

The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs
in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your bones.
You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose
waters never fail.

Resting

Peace is returning with a much quieter day. At one point I quietly opened John's door and I could hear him snoring. The Elijah was playing. As a strong chorus rang out, he raised both of his arms, put them down and continued snoring. I think this man worships in his sleep!!! Alleluia.

Yesterday I mistakenly commented that I would be doing all of John's care. What I meant to say was that John's parents are now here to help share the load. What a gift. (If I write things that are wack-o, please make your best guess at what I must be trying, but unable, to say!)

I am overwhelmed by all of the wonderful words of love and concern we are receiving. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I am hoping for another peaceful day as the children are looking forward to frollicking in the new-fallen snow all day.

Dear Margie
Edgie and I are so encouraged and blessed by your reports here--both the hopeful ones and the difficult ones, and the difficult-hopeful ones; and especially by the spirit of worship that has attended to and is intrinsic to John. After working last year as a chaplain in a hospital, and seeing the various ways people handle serious illness, it is refreshing to hear of John's way right now-- of being in worship and seeing the Lord's beauty.

I too was excited by the snow yesterday. I took our baby Eila out in the baby carrier for a walk so she could look around at it. Her first real snow! Hope your young ones have been able to enjoy it!!

Dear Margie,

Our Lord walks before us through the valley of the shadow of death. His grace is sufficient--may you rest in His compassion.

I have been, am, and will be praying for you all.

Margie...

Greetings to you and John from Naples, Florida...where Wheatonites have deep pockets and the weather is truly delightful. After days of Wheaton winter the green of the palm trees, blue of the sky and warmth and light of the sun are startling. Yes, the snow is beautiful, but Florida is God's symbol of warmth and light. (Alas, I am returning tomorrow night to, what, 17*?)

Tears came tonite as I read about John listening and worshipping to the Elijah...I've been listening to it today in the car and thinking and praying for you...John shared my delight in discovering the Elijah last year and recommended "the best" recording. What a blessing it has been to me over these last months.

The prayer that comes to me for y'all is the anointing prayer from the BCP...May you know and believe that the only name for healing under heaven and earth is the name of Jesus.

Margie -

Here it is...

The Almighty Lord, who is a strong tower to all who put their trust in him, to whom all things in heaven, on earth, and under

heaven and the earth bow and obey: Be now and evermore your defense,
and make you know and feel that the only Name under
heaven given for health and salvation is the Name of our Lord

Jesus Christ. Amen.
