Isaiah 58: 11

The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs
in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your bones.
You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose
waters never fail.

Visitors

We got home from the hospital at 10pm or so last night. John has a large blood clot down the entire right leg. This is painful. Yesterday I wrote visitors would be OK. I think we better hold off on visits for now. So sorry.

Please know that many even of those you don't know personally are praying for you all. You weigh heavily on my mind, every day. I know John very tangentially because long ago he interviewed me for a librarian job at Wheaton when I was fresh out of grad. school. Then I met him again, briefly, when interviewing for a different position at that library a few years ago. Friends and family of mine have been kind enough to keep me informed of where to look to find updates on you all--including David Osielski and Dan Jozwiak (my father-in-law) from Wheaton College.

Love in Jesus,

Steve

John and Margie,

We love you! We are carrying you in our hearts during this Advent time of waiting and hoping in the Coming and Birth of Jesus.

Thank you for the words and love and updates you've been sharing. They are precious to soooooo many who long to feel close to you two during this season. We feel blessed to hear of all God is birthing in both of you as you wait and seek and hope in the Way the Truth and Life!

I couldn't help but think of both of you as I read Luci Shaw's poem about the coming Christ:

A Blessing for the New Baby

Lightly as a falling star, immense, may you
drop into the body of the pure young girl like a seed
into its furrow, entering your narrow home under the shadow
of Gabriel's feathers. May your flesh shape itself within her
swelling her with shame and glory. May her belly grow
round as a amall planet, a bowl of golden fruit.

When you suck in your first breath, and your loud cries
echo through the cave (Blessing on you, little howler!)
may Mary adorn you with tears and caresses like ribbons,
her face glowing, a moon among stars. At her breasts
may you drink the milk of mortality that transforms you,
even more, into one of your own creatures.

And now, as the night of this world folds you in
its brutal frost
and as Joseph, weary with unwelcome and relief, his hands
bloody from your birth, spreads his thin cloak
around you both, we doubly bless you, Baby,
as you are acquainted, for the first time, with our grief.

Love,

Sal

Hi, Margie!

I just sent an email to you guys with a letter for John. I used an address I have for you (from the church directory), but I just wasn't sure if that address was still working or not. I also sent it to John's wheaton address. Just thought I'd let you know.

Love you guys!!
